Abstract

This research paper sheds light on the significance of scientific research in the field of disaster risk management in Arab countries. Initially, the study highlights the natural hazards and disasters that the Arab region is exposed to, such as earthquakes, floods, sandstorms, and others. It also discusses the negative economic and social impacts of these disasters. The study indicates that scientific research plays a vital role in understanding the nature of these hazards, predicting their occurrence, and responding to them. Scientific research contributes to this through data collection, analysis, and the development of mathematical models to understand the mechanisms of these hazards. The study also reviews examples of how scientific research can be used to develop innovative solutions such as early warning systems and disaster-resistant construction techniques. Despite the importance of scientific research, the study points out its challenges in the Arab region, such as lack of funding and brain drain. The study concludes with a number of recommendations to activate the role of scientific research in natural hazard management, such as increasing funding, building capacity, and enhancing regional cooperation.
